Day 1
You will be met and chauffeured to your hotel upon arrival in Rio de Janeiro. Rio is considered by many to be the world’s most beautiful city. woven between 20 miles of white sandy beaches trimmed by green, rolling peaks. The most beautiful and famous of these beaches are Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon. Enjoy a day at leisure. Overnight at the Copacabana Palace or Marina All Suites in Ipenema.
Day 2
In the afternoon we embark on a scenic tour of Rio starting with Corcovado; after a beautiful drive along Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, you will arrive at the bottom of Corcovado hill where you take a train to climb the beautiful mountain to the statue of Christ the Redeemer (2.300ft above sea level). From here you can see why Rio de Janeiro is called the Marvelous City!
Next, your are driven to "Praia Vermelha", to take the two-stage cable-car up to the top of Sugar Loaf (800ft), which guards the entrance to Rio's harbor and Guanabara Bay. The first stage is Morro da Urca at 500ft, the second stage goes up to the top of Sugar Loaf itself. We plan this ascent at dusk so you can enjoy one of the best sunsets in the world; our guide will bring along a nice bottle of wine and some cheese.
Our final stop is a special Brazilian dinner at Porcão Rio’s – a dinning experience like no other. This is a typical Brazilian barbecue (Churrasco - pronounced shoo-RAS-ko). Start with a caiprinha and something from the salad buffet, including Japanese food, seafood, carpaccio, etc. Waiters then move from table to table bringing different types of meats on skewers from which they slice portions onto your plate. Guests control their service with a small green and red-sided circular chip given to each of them. The green side signals the waiter to serve, while the red side stops service. But you will eat too much anyway…and don’t forget the dessert buffet!
Day 3
After breakfast, you will take a special Jeep tour in the Floresta da Tijuca hightlighting the juxtaposition of nature and city. You will make a quick stop at Macaco's Waterfall for pictures. Later, you will see the Chinese View, Emperor’s Table, Cascatinha Taunay and Mayrink Chapel. You will also enjoy a short walk through the forest and feel miles from civilization.
Days 4 – 7
After breakfast, private transfer to Angra dos Reis, two hours from Rio de Janeiro, in an ecological paradise. Arrive at the small and exclusive Pestana Beach Resort, situated on 55.000 square meters between the Atlantic forest and the sea. The resort has 27 bungalows, all with ocean view and air conditioning, individual safe, minibar, cable TV, DVD, jacuzzi, sauna and veranda. There is a panoramic restaurant, bar, private beach, glorious pool, game room, sauna and fitness center. The hotel also offers water sports, hiking and tours of Angra.
Your stay ncludes a full day private chartered sailboat w/ captain, ready to island-hop and explore the many deserted beaches and outer islands around Angra. The boat will stop for lunch at Ilha Grande, famous for its hundreds of beaches.
Day 8
Breakfast and a last leisurely morning. Afternoon transfer to Rio de Janeiro’s airport for your return flight.
