Program Day-by-Day

Copacabana beach is the ground zero for the New Year event that attracts over 2 million people. Starting December 31st and continuing well into the morning of January 1st, the 6 miles of sand are jam-packed with New Year's revelers. The entertainment never stops, with concerts and performances all evening long leading up to the best fireworks display in the world. People from all social classes, side by side, in peace, in manifestations that mix magic and devotion. The evening is also an important one in the African Candomblé religion: it's the night to make an offer to the sea goddess Yemanjá. The sight on the beach is truly spectacular. It is traditional for Brazilians to dress in white ... a farewell to the year that is ending and toast the arrival of the new year.

Duration: 4 days.
