Beaches

Buzios’ main claim to fame, other than having been discovered by Brigitte Bardot, is its 20 beaches, large and small, all within a few kilometers of the old town. Thanks to the rugged terrain of this peninsula, each beach is “private” and has its own personality, just waiting to be discovered.

The best way to spend your days is exploring these little gems, and snacking at any one of the many beach kiosks, all offering plates of fresh anchovy, shrimp and squid. Don’t forget to try the shrimp pastries at Samuca Bar!

In town itself, the most popular lunch place is Boom, which serves its wonderful fresh food by weight, There are also restaurants that serve so called Buziano Artistic cuisine. It is good, honest food.

Dinner & Nightlife

If you're on a mission for a night out, Rua das Pedras is the place to be. This nearly 4,000-foot-long street boasts pubs, bars, discos, and restaurants open on weekends until 3 or 4am. During the week, things wind down around midnight.

Though small in size, the town is considered to be one of the best in Brazil for dining out, with over 20 quality restaurants, some of which are rated among the country's finest. Gourmets have a wide array of cuisines from which to choose, including Brazilian, Italian, French and Portuguese, as well as seafood and crêpes. The city's numerous charms have waylaid dozens of foreign visitors since Bardot's first promenade. She left but many others have stayed, opening inns, restaurants, and bars and providing Buzios with an international air.

Start your evening at one of the many fine restaurants here. The Patio is impressive with its 5 different ambiences, all by Brazilian designers. Extancia features Argentinean beef and wines. For something light, try Chez Michou, famous for their crepes for over 15 years.

After an inspiring meal, the in-crowd of Buzios gravitates to the city's bars, many of which have live entertainment. Both bars and restaurants in Buzios are as well known for their owners as for their offerings. The best clubs are Guapo Loco, Patio Havana, Skipper, Fashion Cafe and Zapata.
