While the the sands stretching from Barra east along All Saints Bay are some of the finest urban beaches around, just one more hour along the coast will serve up some pristine coastline.

Praia do Forte was once just a small fishing village, and land of one of the most rich personality of Brazil’s Colonial history.

Praia do Forte EcoResort, a magnificent area of Brazil's coastline where sunshine and breath-taking palm tree fringed beaches combine brilliantly into delightful days.

Hotels and restaurants (of both the cheap and expensive variety) abound on the two crisscrossing dirt roads leading to thelong, tranquil beach.

There is a massive Sea-Turtle preserve, good swimming and shallow water snorkling, and after a city beach, lots of untarnished uninhabitated sand. The kind that really relaxes you. A great post carnaval remedy, unless, of course, you want carnaval to continue. In that case, head to one of several open air discos or forros (Brazillian country music jamborees) slam down a couple caipirinhas, and let it begin again. Just move to the music!.
