Program Day-by-Day

This tour features two of Brazil’s most desirable destinations. Rio, the “marvelous City”, synonymous with the girl from Ipanema, the dramatic Pão d'Açucar (Sugarloaf) Mountain, and the wild and outrageous Carnaval (Carnival) celebrations. It is a city of stunning architecture, good museums, and wonderful food. Then on to Buzios, discovered by Brigitte Bardot, with its 20 beaches, large and small, all within a few kilometers of the old town. Though small in size, the city is considered to be one of the best in Brazil for dining out, with over 20 quality restaurants, some of which are rated among the country's finest. If you're on a mission for a night out, Rua das Pedras is the place to be. Its nearly 4,000-foot-long main street boasts pubs, bars, discos, and restaurants open on weekends until 3 or 4am. But away from the “action”, it is still a quiet little fishing village.

Day 1

Upon arrival at the Rio De Janeiro Airport, you will be met at your gate by your tour guide and chauffeured to your hotel. After lunch, you’ll take a jeep tour through the lush Tijuca Floresta rain forest, a tour which shows off the exoticness (cultural and natural) of the most beautiful City in the World. The open jeep will give you a better view of the contrast between the ocean and the forest and between the luxurious condominiums and the favelas (ghettos) of Rio. With the help of an ecological guide, you will learn about the ecosystem of the Mata Atlantica and the flora and fauna that grows within.

Day 2

Morning breakfast enjoying the view, followed by a private tour of Sugar Loaf and & Corcovado. Lunch at Rio’s most famous churrascaria (BBQ). The afternoon is free to explore the “marvelous City.”

Day 3

Today you will get a behind the scenes look at “the world’s greatest party.” (Only available from October to February.) Visit a "barracao" or "samba workshop", where devoted artisans use simple materials to craft the opulent floats and costumes that dominate the Carnival Parade. Next, visit the “SAMBO'DROMO" (where the parade takes place) for a tour of this unique stadium and its museum.

Day 4

Day tour to Petropolis a city located in the Serra dos Orgaos mountains, only one hour from Rio de Janeiro. There you will visit the Imperial Museum, which is housed in the old summer residence of the imperial family from the 19th Century. You will see a fabulous collection of art objects and jewels, including the famous Imperial Crown. During our stay in Petropolis, we will visit the Crystal Palace and the Sao Pedro de Alcantara Neolithic Cathedral.

Take a late afternoon scenic drive up through the mountains surrounding Petropolis. In the evening, we have arranged a very special dinner for you at a unique Bed & Breakfast called “Locanda Della Mimosa” owned by Italian Chef Danio Braga, including a special wine tasting and tour of his private wine cellar.

Days 5 - 8

Scenic drive up the coast (or if you prefer, you may opt to take a breathtaking helicopter flight – contact us for prices) to Buzios where you will stay at Casas Brancas, a refined mediterrenean style inn overlooking the stunning bay of Buzios, near the center of town, close to the night life and restaurants, and to its 20 beaches. The best way to spend your days is exploring these little gems, and snacking at any one of the many beach kiosks, all offering plates of fresh anchovy, shrimp and squid.

The city's numerous charms have waylaid dozens of foreign visitors since Brigitte Bardot's first promenade in the 60s. She may have left but many others have stayed, opening inns, restaurants, and bars and providing Buzios with an international air. Relax in a hammock, or listen to live jazz at one of the local hotspots. On your last day, you will be driven to the Rio airport for your flight home.
