Program Day-by-Day

Day 1

São Paulo/Caiman Overnight in São Paulo. Flight to Campo Grande. Transfer by air conditioned car to Caiman Resort. Arrive to resort and enjoy a fine dinner. After dinner, slide presentation of what you will do and see over the next days.

Day 2

Caiman Early breakfast then off to first voyage. Lunch. New voyage at 3 pm. Dinner and nocturnal hike to see live animals. Hike through heavy bush and observe the animals that live there, as “quatis” (raccoon-like mammals) and monkeys. The hikes leave on foot from the hotel, or are part of the photo safari.

The Farm Tour Walk is taken at the headquarters of the lodge and involves a visit to the stable, the workers’ quarters and the headquarters of Blue Macaw Project.

Day 3

Early breakfast then off to first voyage. Lunch and rest. New tour at 3 pm. Dinner and nocturnal hike to see live animals. Horseback tour: This is one of the best ways to explore the Pantanal, allowing for visits to areas which are inaccessible by other means, like local flooded areas, where the water is too deep for motorized vehicles or too shallow for other boats.

The horses in the Pantanal, which are raised in the region, are stout, strong and have water-resistant skin, and are adapted to crossing long distances of flooded fields, lasts about 3 hours.

Canadian Canoe Tour: Refúgio Ecológico Caiman offers Canadian canoe tours on the lakes within the ranch. In such tours you will canoe around the shores and see mammals such as capybaras, and monkeys on the shoreline trees. You will also see birds that commonly inhabit the area such ase: cormorants, anhingas, skimmers, herons and egrets. This tour fits people of all ages.

Tour length: average 1,5 to 2 hours without disembarking the canoe.

Day 4

After breakfast, new voyage. Dinner and nocturnal trip. Safari Tour: A tour in an open vehicle is the best way to reach places far from the farm. Crossing fields and stretches of jungle, this tour broadens opportunities to observe and photograph the wild life. The vehicle is used for longer photo safaris. At night the guests go out to do “night spotting”: to observe, with the help of flashlights, nocturnal animals, as alligators, capybaras, anteaters and small wolves.
