Tauana is a very special out-of-the way location, for very special travelers, a location to practice the art of “doing
nothing”. Tauana Hotel is located in a very exclusive beach in Corumbau - Bahia, between two National Parks and in
front of beautiful coral reefs, the place where Pedro Alvares Cabral arrived in Brazil. 506 years ago Tauana Hotel is

Where simplicity becomes a style and environment is synonym for luxury. Where silence is broken only by the sound of the birds and the ocean. Where clay, wood, and piaçava combine with design and havaianas flip flops combine with silver, porcelain, and crystal personalized service, exclusivity and good taste, and a lot of time to do nothing
The concept proves that comfort and design can coexist with self-
sustainable projects. There are nine “cabanas” perfectly integrated in nature, each with 130 square meters, and only a few meters from a wild beach, surrounded by coconut trees and the Atlantic forest. The hotel has been built using traditional construction techniques and materials. Using local earthen construction such as Adobe and wattle-and-daub walls, and also using wooden tiles and piaçava (a local palm tree) In the interior the architecture itself decorates the place, minimalist and simple, with king size beds, a huge mosquito net covering the bed and the bedside tables, 300 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, feather pillows, beautiful Portuguese bedspreads and some pieces of Brazilian designers of the 60’s and 70’s.
Meals are served with products from the hotel organic vegetable and fruit garden. A project of reforestation with more than 30000 trees from the Atlantic Forest was implemented in more than half of the propriety. The hotel also implemented a sewage treatment system, so that there is no possibility of any kind of soil or water contamination. They separate all our garbage and use the organic waste to do composting to use our vegetable garden, and the rest we recycle. 99% of our staff is from the
local community.
From July to September it is possible to do some whales watching, since they migrate this part of the Brazilian coast looking for warm and calm water for mating and calving. During the summer it is possible to go scuba diving in the coral reefs, and during all year around there are several tour options (cannoning the beautiful rivers between mangroves and Atlantic forest, walking on the beach, biking, visiting a Indian village...)
They only allow children older than 12 unless a group makes a reservation for most of the cabanas.
